There are so many options to choose from these days when it comes to buying a new game for your PC. You can buy directly from the Windows/Xbox online store, subscribe to Game Pass and play many of your favorite Xbox options, or download any one of the other many video game marketplace options (ie, GOG, Origin, Steam, etc). It sure beats having to drive down to your local electronics store wondering what they may or may not carry. Now, you can add Google Play Games to that list as well.
Google aims to take on some of these marketplaces by bringing Google Play Games to Windows, turning it into its own launcher for all of your favorite Android games. That’s right, Android games! so if you’ve always wanted to play your favorite Google Play store game on a bigger screen without having to plug your phone into a TV (assuming yours even supports that), now you can.
The announcement just rolled out at the 2021 Game Awards yesterday. Users will now be able to access a vast collection of Android games from any Windows 10 (or later) PC. Which is a bit more adoptable than Microsoft bringing Android apps into just Windows 11 through its partnership with Amazon (which seemed like an odd decision that likely had a lot to do with money).
This is a smart move by Google being there is a LOT of money going around thanks to in-game advertisements (or, they will simply sell more games, when it comes to those titles that aren’t filled with ads).
The exact date of this roll out is unknown, outside of the fact that it will happen sometime next year (2022). However, you can bet there will be some commotion spread around by Google when the time approaches. I wouldn’t be surprised if the company rolled it out alongside a huge sale promotion on some of the available titles in an attempt to raise even more hype.
