It’s a repeat of what happened with the Wii when gamers were sending their Wii controllers through their TV screen. Only now, over a decade later, the same thing is happening with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers. And it’s all thanks to Nintendo Switch Sports.
The game has been a hit, bringing back solid memories of the old Wii Sports game that delivered so much entertainment to many gamers looking to play with friends and family. Along with bad habits. The issue exists when gamers get a little too comfortable with their Joy-Con skills and opt out of using any form of a wristband/lanyard. Without that, the controller is free to go flying if the user isn’t holding on tight enough.
This exact thing happened to Twitch streamer 63man, who sent his controller right into the corner of his screen, shattering the image. It looks like he forgot to put that strap on and the end result was a bit more than he would have expected. I guess no one ever told him about the problems of the past. Either that, or he did it on purpose so that sources like us would talk about him (in which case, he has succeeded).
He isn’t alone and there will be others. Thankfully, straps are provided/available and there is no reason not to use them outside of personal choice. So Nintendo can’t be held liable for anything. You can be there will be more fascinating videos hitting the internet in the near future.
