Sony has teamed up with Backbone, a company behind multiple mobile controllers for both Android and iPhone devices, to develop a PlayStation-themed controller. This model was designed to look similar to the PlayStation controllers you are used to from the consoles, but designed to wrap around your iPhone.
These controllers are similar to just about every other mobile phone controller, where they expand to fit the size of various smartphone models and then slide right into the data port at the bottom (in this case, the Lightning connection).
At the moment, there only appears to be support for iPhone devices as no Android model has been listed or discussed by Sony or Backbone. So Android users may not get a chance for this. However, iPhone users will be able to make use of the new controller for their PS Remote Play use.
Of course, since it is the same as any other wireless controller, it will also work with any other game on your iPhone as well (not just PlayStation services/games). As well as Sony’s cloud solutions when they roll out (eventually) to mobile devices.
The Backbone One for iPhone PlayStation Edition is already available for $99 and can be found here on Amazon.
