Sony is looking to raise some additional attention for the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) headset by giving it a bit of a price drop, lowering it from $549 to $449, and making for a more reasonable price range for it to sit at. A move that might gather some additional sales from fans and lead to better sales.
Currently, this appears to be a temporary move that will expire on June 12th, 2024. However, it makes for a noticeable price drop that hasn’t ever happened for the headset, so if you have been holding out for a sale, this might be your best chance. We’d like to see this become the normal price, but this is a positive step in the right direction for sales in general.
Sony has also been working on making the PSVR2 PC-friendly, which could potentially open it up to the likes of Steam and other platforms. Something that would greatly increase the value of the headset as the number of games available to it will be the biggest selling factor of them all. If Sony pulls this off, it will likely overtake most of the PC-compatible models out there, making it one of the most popular options when it comes to a balance between price and performance.
Sadly, you’ll have to continue to wait for any news coming from Sony about this since the adapter to make it all happen (and the drivers, software, etc), doesn’t exist just yet. There is always the small chance that it may never happen and that it was all just hype to raise sales. But coming from Sony, I would expect better results than that.
So the sale is the best bit of news thus far this year and you can pick it up now from some of your favorite retailers, such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, and more. Certain bundle options are also on sale to make it sweeter.
