Scarlett Johansson played a pivotal role in Marvel’s Avengers movies. First appearing in the second Iron Man movie and working her way through the various dramatic adventures until reaching her final role as Black Widow in the self-titled (Black Widow) movie in 2021. Now, the actress might be ready to shift over to the DC universe for a whole new epic opportunity.
The Batman was a hit when it reached theaters in 2022, and has since been facing various setbacks as things slowly make their way to a movie sequel. In the meantime, various updates have been surfacing about the coming movie, including the chance that Scarlett might be one of the latest additions to the cast (although things are simply “in talks” for now).
At the moment, everything has been based on rumors that surfaced yesterday, so things can go either way (or slightly exaggerated even), but if this information is true, it could prove to be exciting for the actress. So we might be seeing a lot of Scarlett again if her (potential) character is one that would live on through the DC universe that James Gunn has been creating.
There is still plenty of time before the sequel comes out, as it is currently slated for October of 2027. So that is nearly a two-year wait. But the ice is likely thin and slippery, as it isn’t easy to weave together a universe that all connects together as Marvel has done, so it makes perfect sense that these things will take time since there is so much to reset and create as Gunn moves away from the previous DC content.
