“May the 4th be with you” memes had to come to a quick halt on Reddit as it experienced an outage this afternoon of around an hour. Withdrawals led users to spread the news all over that the platform was no longer responding for them.
Reddit was quick to stomp out any issues that may have been causing the unknown event. No word has been given as to what the cause was specifically. However, all services seem to be functioning now.
As you can see, it took Reddit less than an hour to determine the cause and begin working at patching things up. Now the memes and conversations are flowing once again and the world is right (for Reddit users, at least).
Sadly, this is a good example of what happens when so many forum communities fall to be replaced by a “one solution to rule them all” kind of scenario. When there is an outage, you then have nothing. At least, the outside world is always there to accept you when you’re all out of options online. #sunlight
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some cat memes to browse.
