Amazon has struck again, pulling a brand and all of its products from its website. A brand that is quite recently fresh with us since we (literally) just covered its latest charging adapter/station that will be rolling out to vendors shortly. That brand is RAVPower and you will have to go elsewhere to find the company’s products for now.
The action was taken as part of Amazon’s policy against fake reviews and an ongoing investigation that Amazon has been making against other companies seeking to pay or bribe customers in exchange for positive reviews in their favor. This is part of a huge database that was discovered of communications by various companies revealing their communications to customers via various networks/sources. Essentially, catching them red-handed.
We can’t say for sure if RAVPower is guilty of anything as Amazon and the security specialists who discovered this database of information aren’t exactly making everything public. Our own communications with RAVPower have never hinted toward any negative vibes. So in case you were wondering, any reviews we have published surrounding the company or its subsidiaries or partners are completely accurate and based on our own honest opinions obtained through our own internal testing.
Although we are quite frequently approached by various bribes from companies, these bribes are ignored and in many cases, these companies are banned from content and communications via any of our platforms as this goes against our own internal policies.
The company may have been nabbed based on monetary rewards (in the form of rebates) offered to customers if they left a review (with no mention of a specific score desired). If you commonly order things from Amazon, you likely know this happens quite frequently and by many companies. This could have been a misunderstanding of Amazon’s policies by the company or maybe all of these companies have been knowingly doing this. Either way, it does send a stern message to other companies who may be doing the same thing or considering the idea.
Update (06/17/2021): It appears additional brands related to the company, VAVA and Taotronics, have also been pulled by Amazon for similar reasons.
