Net Applications (a web monitoring company) has announced that Internet Explorer has gained in it’s browser share across the web as users flock to the new version recently made available to Windows 7 users. Since it appears as an important update in Windows Update, some users will find it installed automatically.
Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) originally launched as part of Windows 8.1 back in June and Windows 7 users have access as of November 7th, so they have had plenty of time to upgrade and many more to come which will only raise Microsoft browser share all that more.
This shows that although Google Chrome and Firefox are fantastic browsers, IE still has a lead and isn’t giving up. If it wasn’t for Microsoft improving IE the way they did, they probably would have been overtaken by now as Chrome’s popularity continues to expand (ie, most of us in the office here are using Chrome as our default).
Microsoft claims IE11 is more secure than any other browser and features everything from the Windows 8.1 version minus a few things like touch support.
