During Comic-Con 2023, Paramount+ has a great “activation” in the San Diego downtown area, filled with photo opportunities, caricatures, snacks, and other promotions surrounding some of its current shows. Including Star Trek, Yellowjackets, Spongebob, 1923, and more. But the prize goes to Star Trek this round, in our opinion, thanks to the major drops during a panel in the famous Hall H.
Discovery
One of the drops was the announcement of 5th and final season of Star Trek Discovery. One that looks like it will absolutely be bringing the action (no surprise there). Paramount shared 5 minutes of what to expect, resulting in some intense excitement from everyone in the audience. The new season will be coming in early 2024 and you can see the 5-minute clip right here (prepare yourself for this one!):
Lower Decks
Paramount also shared the upcoming season of Star Trek Lower Decks, coming September 7th starting with the first two episodes. As always, it looks like the crew of the Cerritos will have plenty of trouble to get into and many adventures to be had. You can find the trailer here:
Strange New Worlds
Then there is the next season of Star Trek Strange New Worlds. This one you don’t have to wait any time for as the first episode has dropped tonight on Paramount+ and this just happens to be the one everyone has been talking about (and waiting to see).

This episode is the first of the new season, known as “Those Old Scientists” and it finally brings you the promised Strange New World/Lower Decks crossover. Where Ensign Beckett Mariner (voiced by Tawny Newsom) and Ensign Brad Boimler (voiced by Jack Quaid) will cross into the world of Strange New Worlds in live-action form (the voice actors themselves) and join its crew for an adventure that will leave you crying with laughter.
Paramount shared this episode with everyone in the audience and we can confidently say that any fan of these two shows will easily find this to be one of their favorite episodes. So if you are a Paramount+ subscriber, make sure to tune in tonight and jump right into it!
In addition to this, the new season will also feature Star Trek’s first musical episode. It will be episode number 9, titled “Subspace Rhapsody”. It won’t be the first time someone broke into a song in a Star Trek episode (especially as of late). However, it will be the first time that the entire episode was dedicated to it. You can find the trailer for that here:
