If I could count how many times we have discussed a book in one of our stories (the highlight of the story, at least), I’d likely be able to count using the fingers on a single hand. Mostly because a book isn’t tech. However, Ready Player One was such an exception to that. It was tech in so many ways, touching the hearts of many. It even made it to number one in our recommended reading list. Eventually, going on to become a successful blockbuster hit directed by Steven Spielberg. Not a bad run.
Thankfully, it isn’t over yet. Ernest Cline’s sequel “Ready Player Two” has officially hit the shelves. Now readers can dive right back into the world of the Oasis to see what comes next as the same characters join in for another adventure between the real world and virtual reality.
It won’t be long before we start dabbling with such virtual worlds once VR technology becomes better. HTC has already made its own version of the Oasis, albeit, quite minimal and simplistic in comparison. It was created around the idea of the first movie. Who knows where the influence of the Ready Player franchise will take things next.
For now, you have a promotion happening over at Roblox where they are having a treasure hunt that takes place across multiple virtual worlds within their platform, just like how the new book opens up. You can find more information about that here(Note: link removed as this is over) if that interests you (login required).
For everyone else, if you are looking to get your hands on the book, we have gathered some links/buttons below to take you straight to it! Rejoice, as the next chapter in the adventure begins, now.
You can also check out a discussion in the below video, featuring one of our own moderating it (produced externally by another group) that covers both books. It is part of The Geek Out where they did a good job talking about everything.
