Amazon isn’t the only retailer offering great shipping options as Walmart has finally opened their pilot program to the rest of the US, known as “Shipping Pass“. Just like Amazon’s Prime, Walmart’s Shipping Pass offers shoppers free 2-day shipping on qualified products.
Of course, “free” isn’t completely free as there is an annual fee, but it will only cost you $49/year–compared to Amazon’s Prime that will run you $99/year. It includes a 30-day trial so that you can test it out first before any charges hit your card.
Just like Amazon, you simply have to look for items that qualify, which are clearly marked with the Shipping Pass logo on the product’s page. Items that qualify are items sold directly by Walmart and not 3rd party sellers, although Walmart has displayed interest in including them in the future of things.
This is a great deal for those who frequently order online vs in-store. If you find that shipping charges eat up for more $49 of your yearly expenses, then the Shipping Pass if perfect for you–assuming that you spend a lot with Walmart.
Unlike Amazon Prime, Walmart’s Shipping Pass doesn’t offer any video or music streaming services along with the shipping, but they do offer free in-store and online returns for pass holders. This is most likely the reason why the price is also half the price of their competitor.
