Yesterday I got an Email from Hulu informing me that their apps will no longer exist, nor work, on Sharp Smart TVs. Obviously the money is moving to other type devices like Roku, or Chromecast, or even gaming systems such as the PS4 or XBOX One. This is annoying because Hulu was free when I first got my Sharp Aquos 60 Inch HDTV. I upgraded to commercial free when it became an option for $11.99 a month, and yes, as a techy, I do have Roku. I have Chromecast units, I have smart Blu-ray players, and app supported video game consoles.…

This is round three of our stories centered around some of the latest headphones to come from the company beyerdynamic (made in Germany). Previously, we have covered their T51i on-ear model and their Custom One Pro Plus over-ear model. Now, we take a look at their Amiron Home headphones, one of their entry points for their audiophile selection. Now, this one is completely different from the other two we have covered, in both design and performance. The target audience is the audiophile community, thus you are supposed to be able to hook these up to something nice to drive them…

This is round two in this week’s look at some of beyerdynamic’s latest models, and what we have found ourselves to like about them. In our last article, we discussed their T51i on-ear headphones. Now we take a look at their Custom One Pro Plus headphones, an over the ear solution that really demands some attention. What feels like a more general pitch to a very large market of music enthusiasts, as well as streaming video and more, the Custom One Pro Plus headphones seem to deliver a very powerful sound stage comparable to some of our favorite Sennheiser solutions that typically…

It is now time to turn our focus over to one specific brand, hailing from Germany with so many years experience delivering popular headphones, microphones (and more): beyerdynamic. With three stories surrounding some of their latest headphones, we will bring them to you one at a time, and to begin with, we are going to discuss their T51i on-ear headphones. Marketed towards mobile users looking to bring their music with them on the go, the T51i headphones feature a smaller design that makes them ideal for travel. They are decently lightweight in design, despite the durable aluminum approach, and have…

Sony has announced two new series of 4K HDR TVs coming this year beginning this month. One of which is their X720E series (this month), which will MSRP between $899 and $1,099. The X690E series will feature two models, a 60-inch ($1299) and a massive 70-inch option ($1,999) for those looking to fill in those larger spaces. Both series will support 4K HDR content at 60p, bringing the clarity and richness to enjoy everything that is 4K in the market today (which has exploded within…

Among the incredible range of headphones we have been plugging away with testing in our audio lab and everywhere else around the building, is Brainwavz’s M2 in-ear headphones. This marks the second pair of headphones we have tested coming from Brainwavz, and first one that falls under the $100 price point. The M2 headphones are more of a wired in-ear solution for those not wanting to throw all their money at something all at once. We find these to fall within the range of an entry-level solution, as well as a great option for those hard of hearing. To start off,…

Affordably priced headphones can be quite dangerous as you can easily find yourself getting exactly what you paid for. Cheap headphones that can sound atrocious or eventually fall apart in your hands. However, once in awhile you might come across something affordable, that proves to be a steal for what it can accomplish. Today, we get to cover an example of just that. Anker is a company known for a large selection of electronics covering sound, charging and battery solutions, computer hubs and adapters, cables, and more. All of which, typically, fall within the affordable price range. What’s nice, is…

Microsoft has finally announced today at E3, the release date and details of the long awaited Project Scorpio system, now known as the Xbox One X. The new video game and entertainment system will find its way to store shelves beginning November 7th and retail for around $499 (this pattern continues once again) with 1TB of storage (obviously you will want to throw a USB drive into the mix pretty quickly). With it, Microsoft is promising one of their largest game lineups to launch with a new system, totaling 42 games in all. Some of these games include Anthem, Assassin’s…

The Nintendo Classic was a big hit with many while also being a big marketing stunt, by making sure there wasn’t enough to go around. It allowed Nintendo to get their feet wet without sacrificing too much, in the attempt to see how well the classics would sell if something like that made a comeback. It then left the market recently to longer see the light of day. Of course, the entire gaming market got to sit back and monitor the analytics of this move. We had predicted that this would open doors everywhere for classic games to make their…
