A Nice Surprise
While digging through the mail this afternoon, I got a great surprise from the nice folks at Aairhut. Not only wireless earbuds, but elegantly designed Aairhut A2 True Wireless Earbuds combined with a very portable and smart charging case. Beauty and the Box? Ok, let’s check them out:
What’s in the Box?
Contained in the compact packaging is a surprising pile of gear: Aairhut has provided the pair of A2 True Wireless Earbuds with a charming charging cradle, which I will refer to as “The Box” The Earbuds are already nestled in “The Box”, but their contact points are covered in plastic, so remember to remove that before charging “The Box.” Left earbud is on the left side, right earbud is on the right. There is a Micro USB port in the rear of the box which charges the lithium battery contained within and a blue LED on the front which indicates charging level. The box has a smoked plastic lid with the Aairhut label and is about the size of any charging plug so can easily fit in one’s pocket or backpack/purse. A short USB cable is provided and included are extra eartips of the usual small medium and large sizes; the units are delivered with medium eartips installed. There are also a set of spare “earhook” covers, one right, one left. Finally, there is the ubiquitous “instruction manual” which is very detailed and these days always seems to be a extra small flier with extra small fine print. I will let you enjoy reading all the details, it’s time to rock. Let’s charge up “The Box” and get started.
Fancy and Elegant
The first thing you will notice when charging “the Box” is a blinking blue LED, that indicates charging levels from low to high. 0-25% is one blink every 2 seconds up to 75-100% which is seen as 4 blinks every 2 seconds. The Aairhut A2 Earbuds also have white LEDs around the control buttons and those light up while each unit is charging. It’s quite a pretty little light show.
As long as you remember to charge “The Box” regularly, just putting the A2 True Wireless Earbuds away, keeps them working for most of a day: you can extend the time to 28 hours by operating in Mono Mode with just one earbud at a time, or get around 15 hours using the True Wireless Stereo pair. “The Box” provides 3.5 hours of play time per charge, and can charge the earbuds 4 times each before “The Box” needs to be recharged itself. You can also choose to operate the pair as dual mono, if desired. Of course they connect to any Bluetooth device, they can connect to Siri, or play/pause music, advance to the next song. Of course you can make, receive, or reject phone calls. But these Aairhut A2 Earbuds do it in style. Let’s take a listen.
The first thing you will notice when removing the A2 True Wireless Earbuds from “The Box” is that they automatically turn on, and will quickly connect to each other. Push the comfortable, and lightweight earbuds into your ears with a small twist. You will hear voice prompts indicating “Connected” and “Left Channel” or “Right Channel” (use this time to ensure you have them in the correct ears!) which means they are ready to pair. Open your Bluetooth device to the pairing screen then choose: Aairhut A2 and Voila, you are ready to enjoy listening and making calls with your new True Wireless Earbuds by Aairhut. Either earbud control button operates any of the control functions which makes it easy for left or right handers to operate instinctively after only a short time of practice. Want Siri? Hold either button for one second and she pops up in your left ear: All phone calls will be mono to the Left Ear by design, then the Aairhut A2 Earbuds will go right back to Stereo mode when the call ends. The A2 Earbuds will also announce the incoming phone number in the left ear, allowing one to reject unwanted calls. Next song is by double clicking either ear button, play pause is one quick click instead of the one second press to engage Siri. I connected these True Wireless Earbuds effortlessly to my testing devices, including but not limited to: multiple Apple products, Samsung Galaxy phones, and my Kindle Fire HD.
Great Googly Moogly
The Aairhut A2 is a reasonably priced full range True Wireless Stereo earbud pair. I have listened to them on many various devices and a huge diversity of music. The A2s can accurately reproduce any type of music and I listen to ANYTHING and did: Classical, Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, Metal, Atomic Death Metal, Rock, Pop, all seemed to pop in my ears and give a great experience without any real listening fatigue. The phone calls were clear and those various folks with whom I communicated were pleased with the sound of my voice in their ears, and I could clearly hear the voices in my left ear when in Phone mode. Aairhut so believes in their products that they give an amazing warranty: 3 months defect replacement: and 12 months unconditional replacement warranty with free return shipping. That’s confidence.
Anyone who reads my reviews knows I don’t give 10 out of 10. The Aairhut A2 True Wireless Earbuds have a lot going for them: Great style, comfort, a convenient(and necessary) charging cradle, and very accurate sound reproduction. I am disappointed by the short play time before recharging. I have tested many wired Bluetooth earbuds which had playtimes past 10 hours but that’s the cost of True Wireless Stereo. Processing and communication decreases the battery life. The Bluetooth signal was strong with every device tested, and I could move throughout a 3000 square ft 2 story space with minimal dropout. I like that the system defaults to the left ear during phone calls, and I really liked the phone number announcements because I am always screening my calls. From previous testing of other True Wireless Stereo pairs I recognize there is a small delay between audio and video because of processing time of the two devices communications. It was equally noticeable with the Aairhut A2 Earbuds and in my mind it’s a problem which is recognized, and hopefully will be addressed as more and more of these types of Bluetooth devices flow into the market in the future. You can’t lose “The Box” as you can’t charge the Earbuds without it, so don’t. You also pretty much have to take “The Box” with you everywhere to stay charged. Looking at the price point, when listening to music, for phone calls, the elegant and stylish Aairhut A2 True Wireless Earbuds are an 8.5 out of 10. Add in the short play times, “The Box”, and the Audio/Video signal delay and that makes 8.5 out of ten. Looking forward to more fine products from the folks at Aairhut. See you soon!
