Summer is here! It’s time to get into the pool for some relaxing family fun. Well… after we clean the pool. First come the leaves, the debris, the scrubbing, and the inevitable realization that the weekend is arriving much faster than expected. If only there were a way to have it all taken care of before Saturday morning rolls around, so that the only thing left to do is grab a towel, dive in, and enjoy the sunshine. Well, we are happy to let you know, there is a way! It’s the Aiper Scuba V3 Ultra pool cleaning robot.
Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to test Aiper’s Expert Duo Suite, which included both the Scuba V3 (walls and floor) and the Surfer Eco S2 (water surface). Each has been capable of solidly delivering on their promises, working together in harmony (even when they would sometimes lightly bump into one another). The new Scuba V3 Ultra is a combination of these pool cleaning robots, bringing it all together into one single solution. The Scuba V3 Ultra is the ‘World’s 1st Cognitive AI-Powered 6-In-1 Robotic Pool Cleaner.’

Initial Impression (The Unboxing)
Aiper continues to impress when it comes to packaging, and the Scuba V3 Ultra arrives with the same attention to detail we’ve seen from the company’s previous products. The robot is well protected during transit, with plastic wrapping covering most of the unit and an additional protective cover helping to prevent scuffs or damage during shipping. Everything arrived securely packaged and in excellent condition.
Inside the box, you’ll find the Scuba V3 Ultra robot, the charging dock, power adapter, retrieval hook, user manual, and a quick start guide. The contents are neatly organized, making the setup process straightforward and allowing you to get the robot charged and ready for its first cleaning session with minimal effort.

The Scuba V3 Ultra connects to its charging stand wirelessly, making charging as simple as placing the robot onto the dock after a cleaning cycle. While some assembly is required, the charging stand arrives in just four pieces and can be put together in a matter of minutes without the need for any tools. The process is straightforward and should present no challenges for most users. While it is similar, it is a different charging stand from the previous model.

As for the robot, the normal bright teal coloring that we are used to seeing from Aiper is replaced on the V3 Ultra with a cool copper highlight. It’s a subtle change, but one that makes a surprisingly big impact. The copper accents give the charging stand and robot a more refined, premium appearance, helping the V3 Ultra stand out as a flagship product while maintaining the modern aesthetic Aiper is known for.

Features
The Scuba V3 Ultra is the largest pool robot we have tested. It weighs in at just under 29lbs. It uses similar treads as the previous V3 model, along with an 8500 GPH dual pump suction. The 4 scrubbers on the front and back have a new spiral pattern that funnels dirt into the collection chamber.

This is Aiper’s new “BioClaw Active Funneling” technology. Let’s be honest, that’s going to make a great superhero movie.
Although the filter box uses the same MicroMesh filtering as the previous model, the filter box, itself, is a different shape. So the MicroMesh filter is not interchangeable between models. Just in case you are a multi-model user, like I am (hey, you might have multiple pools).

The charging stand has two wireless connectors that fit perfectly with the robot. No need to wiggle the robot to get it to connect. Upon putting it on the stand another new feature was apparent–voice notifications. As soon as it was placed on the stand, it confirmed that it was ‘charging’. It is followed by a safety notification to not operate while on the charger.

Another notable upgrade is the addition of a second front-facing camera. By expanding the robot’s field of view, the dual-camera system gives the onboard AI more visual information to work with, allowing it to identify obstacles, navigate the pool, and plan cleaning routes with greater precision. The wider vision path helps the Scuba V3 Ultra make smarter decisions while cleaning, resulting in more efficient coverage and improved overall performance.

Aiper has also included an LED light positioned between the two cameras, making night cleaning a practical option. The added illumination helps the robot maintain visibility in low-light conditions, whether you’re running a cleaning cycle after sunset or preparing the pool for the next morning. It’s a thoughtful addition that adds flexibility to when the robot can operate, rather than limiting cleaning sessions to daylight hours.

As stated before, this is both an underwater cleaning robot and a skimmer. The Scuba V3 Ultra uses JellyFloat technology to rise to the surface to enter the skimmer mode. It also uses this for easy retrieval. When it has completed the cleaning or the battery is low, the Scuba V3 Ultra will float to approximately where is started to easily remove it from the water.
When entering skimmer mode, two doors on the front will open at surface level and it draws in any surface debris to the same collection chamber that the other modes use. There is also a cartridge to add a 3 inch chlorine tab, if you need help controlling the chlorine levels of the water.
Connection to Aiper’s app is also seamless with either a quick QR code scan or a manual connection. Both are extremely easy and quick. It connects to a wifi network for firmware updates and through Bluetooth to the phone. From there, you are able to start setting everything up, including manual control, or scheduling.

Putting It To The Test
The Scuba V3 Ultra is labeled as “6-in-1” robot solution. This refers to floor, wall, waterline, skimmer, shallow cleaning, and chlorination. But the customization is what really opens the possibilities of the Scuba V3 Ultra.

In the app there are 8 different modes, a customizable mode, and the “Cognitive AI Navium” mode is available again as well. The first mode has 3 different names. In the manual, it’s referred to as “All-In-One” mode. The app calls it “Comprehensive” mode. But when it’s selected, the robot itself refers to it as “Hero” mode. There’s a theme going here, “Aiper Cinematic Universe” anyone? Let’s go with “Hero” mode! This is the full deal. It starts with the floor then the walls (including waterline scrubbing) and then skimmer mode.
Next is “AI Patrol” – this will use the camera and the AI to direct it to any dirt that can be detected. The third mode is “Floor (with AI)” and this is similar to the AI patrol except that it will cover the entire bottom of the pool in sequence. The AI is used for object avoidance. Fourth mode is “Walls” – The Scuba V3 Ultra will clean only the walls. Another mode is “Waterline” – Using Aiper’s JetAssist technology, the Scuba V3 will stay on the wall at the waterline moving horizontally around the pool.

The new mode, of course, is Skimmer, where the Scuba V3 Ultra will float to the surface and travel around the pool collecting surface debris. This is where the technology of the Aiper EcoSurfer S2 comes into play, built into this robot so that you don’t need to buy into two different products. Only with this one, you don’t gain the cool solar power that the Aiper EcoSurfer S2 has.
An upgraded mode is “Cognitive AI Navium” – This mode has been updated from the original Scuba V3. The Scuba V3 Ultra will update the cleaning plan using smart strategies. In the app there are 3 slots for scheduling, and all modes are available for each slot. The schedule is set automatically for the 3 slots. You can place the Scuba V3 Ultra in the pool, and it will execute the plan automatically. You will have to charge the robot and clean the filter box periodically between scheduled cleanings.
Another new mode is called “Free Roam” – If you have read any of our previous pool robot reviews, one flaw we kept noticing was irregular shaped pools would be very difficult for the robot to successfully clean walls. This mode resolves that issue. In the Free Roam mode, the Scuba V3 Ultra will randomize the cleaning pattern for the floor and walls. So instead of traveling up the wall and back down and trying to overlap the next path, it now randomizes the paths until the entire pool is covered.
Another new mode is “Shallow Area”. This mode is designed for areas of a pool with large steps or seating areas. It will clean the area using AI to set a perimeter, so it doesn’t fall off the edge.
Finally, the is a customizable mode where you can program the modes it will use. Floor, wall, waterline and skimmer are available. Floor and walls can be set for one or two cleanings. Along with the Eco, Standard, and Max cleaning time set. When there are any issues during the test or at the completion of the cleaning, notifications on the app let you know the status.
Battery Life
The battery life on the Scuba V3 Ultra for the floor/wall is about 3 hours. (Up to 8 hours if only used as a skimmer). To fully charge the robot will take about 4.5 hours. Depending on the size of the pool, using the ‘Hero’ mode or a schedule which includes full cleaning could take longer than the 3-hour battery life.
Cleaning

The Scuba V3 Ultra’s filter box can be used with or without the MicroMesh wrap. If the intention is to clean fine dirt particles or even if the pool is a little cloudy, the MicroMesh can be used. Otherwise for larger debris like leaves or rocks, it can be left out. The filter box is easily cleaned with a garden hose including the MicroMesh. The voice notifications will let you know when the filter box has been removed and put back in correctly. The MicroMesh will have to be replaced periodically, but timing may depend on how much dirt and algae is in the pool.
Storage

If there is one area where the Scuba V3 Ultra may not be ideal for every user, it is Aiper’s recommended storage requirements. Given the amount of advanced technology packed into the robot, Aiper advises storing it indoors in a cool environment when it is not in use. From a product protection standpoint, the recommendation makes sense, as it helps preserve the battery, sensors, cameras, and other sensitive components over the long term.
In practice, however, this may be less convenient for some pool owners. The Scuba V3 Ultra weighs approximately 29 pounds, and regularly moving it between the pool area and an indoor storage location can become a chore depending on your home’s layout. For users with a nearby garage, storage room, or covered area, this may not be much of an issue. However, the mention of “cool environment” may give someone the idea that they have keep the robot in the house (AC), which may not be ideal for some users. But I assume by “cool”, they are referring to a nice shaded and enclosed area (ie, a shed or garage).
While this isn’t necessarily a flaw with the robot itself, it is something potential buyers should keep in mind. The advanced technology and premium features come with a few additional care requirements, and having a suitable indoor storage location will help ensure you get the best long-term performance from the Scuba V3 Ultra.
Our Conclusion
The new Aiper Scuba V3 Ultra is an incredible upgrade in pool cleaning robots. From the sleek new design to the numerous new cleaning modes, it is impressive to see Aiper is not just making small changes for the next model, but making massive ones. They have listened to the community and delivered the requested upgrades. Any pool can now utilize the cleaning power of the Scuba V3 Ultra. I’m going to go grab a cocktail and enjoy the clean pool that my new “Hero” has ready for me.
At the time of writing this, it looks like Aiper has celebrated its launch with a bit of a sale. So instead of it’s MSRP of $2,299.99, it is currently priced at $1,999.99.
