2021 is starting out strong with a lot of great devices coming our way. Today we will be discussing the EKSA E900 Pro Gaming Headset. This set of headphones are compatible with any PC or laptop as well as the Nintendo Switch, Playstation PS5, and XBOX One controller. Using the brand-specific software you can experience 7.1 surround sound on your PC. They have a 2-year warranty and will give you a gift for registering. Let’s look in the box.

In the Box
Packed along with the retail box for the EKSA E900 Gamer headphones EKSA included a plastic and metal desktop stand. It was easy to assemble and worked great to hold the headphones next to my workstation. In the highly detailed retail
box, you will find the EKSA E900 headphones, a 3.5mm headphone cable, a 3.5mm splitter, a USB-C cable, and a pluggable noise-canceling microphone. Also in the box, you will find a nice vinyl carry bag, an easy user manual, an English language user manual guide, and an information and registration card. The 3.5mm splitter is meant for use when the device you are using has separate headphone and microphone jacks such as with a pc or laptop. The main headphone cable is meant for use with Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, or PS5, or any device which has a single cable for headphone and microphone use. The included USB-C cable is meant to be used with a PC only. The microphone and the onboard controls are on the left headpiece of the E900 headphones. That site also contains the ports. In order from back to front, you will find the volume dial, a microphone mute button, the 3.5mm jack, the USB-C port, and finally the 3.5mm microphone jack. On each earpiece, there are bright red LED lights that indicate power. The cloth on the earpieces is soft and not sticky and they feel very comfortable on my head once adjusted for size. Let’s plug them in!
Flexible Connection
To get the full 7.1 simulated surround sound package with your EKSA E900 Pro headsets, you must visit www.ESKA.net to download the software package. Once you get that going you can start playing with the various effects, simulated 7.1 surround sound, and equalization settings. The 50mm drivers are powerful and clear with a bit of low-end rumble when using the software. With the software,
you can spin the sound in your ears to the left, or the right, adjust equalization, or easily set your own personal equalization settings on a 10 band digital equalizer. You can also adjust room size or environment such as ‘underwater” or “Concert Hall” reverb effects. The onboard volume control adjusts the volume in the E900 Headsets but does not adjust the overall volume controls on the PC. To connect the EKSA E900s to your Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or phone use the 3.5mm cable. The end of the cable with the label plugs into the headphone jack, and the end with a lime green tip plugs into the game system, controller, or cellphone/tablet. It’s a very passive system when connected to a phone or game system: There are no red LEDs, and you can’t actually manipulate your smartphone’s volume controls or tracks. You can listen to a slightly muffled full-range audio signal. For that reason, I highly recommend using the onboard EQ setting on your personal device to better enjoy the audio tracks, music, or conversations. Once I enhanced the high end and dropped 6dB from 250Hz they really sounded clear and dialed in. The friend and fellow gamers I spoke with through the PC, Switch, and my phone all said the included headphone microphone was clear and sounded good. Because the volume controls are analog these headphones can get pretty loud: Use all appropriate caution and limit the length of time if you love it loud. These gamer headphones can really rock once the EQ is properly adjusted. Let’s move on.
Our Conclusion
The EKSA E900 Pro Gamer Headphones are the classic: you get what you pay for the product. The 7.1 is simulated and a bit hokey but it’s the same one I’ve reviewed in other platforms over the last few years so there are no surprises and you can adjust quite a bit of the experience when connected to your PC through the USB-C cable. The headphones are adequate for a phone conversation, online gaming through your consoles and come with all necessary patch cables to make that experience come together. The Full range drivers are large with a full bottom end but sound a bit muffled until the EQ settings were adjusted in every device tested. The cables included are all better than adequate and the overall experience was enjoyable for hours without a lot of necks or head fatigue. I wish the LEDs worked no matter what was connected or how but that’s just how these multi-use devices play out. 8 out of 10 for these entry-level gamer headphones. I’ll be looking forward to more interesting items from EKSA in the coming year!
