Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? Probably not, because you’re busy with a morning jog while listening to your favorite tunes. One of the best ways to pull this off? Wireless headphones! No worries about cables running down your body as you make your way around the block. One of the most popular kinds of wireless headphones for a workout routine are in-ear earbuds, and today we take a look out the wireless in-ear headphones (earbuds) from 1byone.
These headphones come with a lot of customization and a satisfying design. Inside the box, you find 3 pairs of “ear hooks” that are different in size to help determine the best fit for your ears. You also have 3 pairs of ear cushions (tips) for the exact same purpose. They do this so that you can shape them specifically for you and move on with your listening without having to worry about them falling out or causing any discomfort.
You have three color options to pick from when purchasing these, the solid black model, green with black model and white with grey (with gold accent on the backs of the ear buds). They are lightweight and fit comfortably around the neck and feature a small plastic slider to change the length of slack you have to work with.
The right earbud features a back lid that pops open using your fingernail to reveal a micro-USB port for charging. There is a wire that crosses between the two earbuds, but that it all; beyond that, they are completely wireless. One side of the cable features in-line controls. These controls offer simply three buttons, including volume up, down and a master button for multiple purposes. Among the buttons you find a microphone which is used for your voice and taking calls.
The volume buttons also function as your next or previous track options and the main button in the middle allows you to turn the headphones on and off by holding it down. That button also triggers Bluetooth pairing if you continue to hold it down as they are turning on. It is also used for answering incoming calls and triggering your connected device’s voice command options.
Pairing the headphones to your phone is simple, as you would expect for any pair of wireless headphones. Once you trigger pairing, you will see the headphones appear on your device’s Bluetooth screen as “1byone”. They do not support NFC, so you have to do it manually like this (which is fine).
Connectivity is about average for a small pair of headphones, giving you up to 20 feet of distance between the headphones and your connected device (if you walk away from it). The product specs list 10 meters, but we started losing connection around 25 feet–so don’t walk too far away from the device feeding them.
They do offer voice confirmations for powering them on and off, initiating pairing and once they have connected to a device. Sound quality is average to just below average in our tests. There is virtually no bass to the headphones and little mids. Most of your sound falls within the mid-high range, giving them a limited range. They are good for a quick workout, but you won’t want to use them for any form of audiophile listening.
They do not offering noice cancelation or anything, which is expected within this price range. It is best that you don’t use them in high-noise environments. They are best for a good jog or workout at a gym, where you might need to hear what is going on around you.

Outside of the ear cushions and rings, inside you also have a small felt pouch for storing the headphones with, a user-friendly manual that features multiple languages and a small (9 1/2″ length) USB cable for charging them with. There is no wall adapter, so you will either want to connect them to a computer or use an adapter you have laying around for your phone or tablet.
There is no actual advertisements about them being water resistant or waterproof, however in one of the images we found online (seen below in the gallery of images), they are featured with drops of water all over them. So we decided to hold them under running water (sink) for a little more than 30 seconds to see what would happen. After doing so, they still performed as they normally would. This means they should defend against heavy sweat or even exposure to rain and still work.
Last but not least, if you have an iPhone, they do support displaying their battery level in the upper right status bar, next to your devices battery information. This is good for keeping an eye on how much listening time you really have. In our tests, we seemed to get about 6-7 hours worth of use from them (starting from a full charge).
Our Conclusion
They feature an enjoyable design, are lightweight and fit well in the ears. They pair well, have an average distance to them and can take a small beating from water. Although they fall within a smaller price range which is nice, we have seen models that fall slightly cheaper and sound better. The range of sound is limited to the mid-high range which takes away from the score. They accessorize well, look good and fit nicely. We would just like to see a better range of sound (since that’s what headphones are all about).
