Here comes another round of “let’s see what iClever can pull off with their USB chargers”! This time we get to take a look at their 6-port desktop charger that plugs into the wall and sits conveniently wherever you need it for charging all of those hungry devices.
This one comes with one Quick Charge 3.0 port that puts out up to 3A and can charge your phone up to 80% in around 35 minutes–as long as your phone support Quick Charge of course (a technology by Qualcomm). This port is also backwards compatible with QC 2.0 devices (2A) and QC 1.0 devices (1.5A), in case you have any laying around.
Most of today’s new tablets and phones have been releasing with QC support, making it quite easily to stay charged throughout the days without having to be glued to an outlet all the time. This is great because these same phones are typically so power hungry anymore, they get you about half way through the day at most (if you are a power user) before starting to run dry.
There are also five regular USB ports for charging any other device with. They can supply up to 2.4A each, with a max of 8.4A between all of the ports if used at the same time. So if you are maxing it out, those ports will at least output around 1.4-1.7A (at least based on our measurements). Not bad eh? That’s not counting the QC 3.0 port for your hungriest device.
This charger works best in just about any static situations such as an office or your home, but based on our round table of suggestions (as we through ideas around talking about it), the strongest would be office and travel. Think about it. In the office, you usually have all sorts of devices kicking around between everyone. As for travel, if you are a gadget nut like some of us, you most likely pack all sorts of fun gadgets with you. Phone, tablet, Bluetooth speaker, headset and so forth. You won’t have to worry so much about bringing all those bulky chargers for each one. Just bring the cables to the party and plug it all into this charger. No more hunting down multiple outlets.
So does it work? Well, it is a charger and it charges. The QC 3.0 outlet charges fast, real fast. The other ports charge just fast enough. More so than these adapters that come with some of these devices you have laying around. So yes, it works and it works well. It helps clean up the space around your desk and other areas and gives your guests somewhere to plug in.
It does come with a complete power cable, wall adapter and all. So all you need are cables to plug into it and your devices. You’re on your own there as it doesn’t come with any. Why would it. With all of the various types of connections on the other end of that USB connector, it would be difficult anymore to pack just one in the box without showing discrimination to all of the others.
There is no connectivity for a computer so you won’t be able sticking any storage devices in there unless its for the sole purpose of giving them power. This device is strictly for charging/power only.
The only other thing you find in the box is a warranty card (all iClever products come with a great warranty an support) and a small user manual.
It’s a good charger and does well at keeping all of your devices well fed. It is compact enough for minimal footprint and well as throwing it in a bag for travel. The only caveat is that you still have to have USB cables running all over the place. It’s kind of hard at the moment to do anything about that until everything becomes wireless for charging. So for now, it seems to be unavoidable and fits right in. It runs less than $30 which is great. We see this retailing for anywhere from $20-30, so that works out.
