There is nothing like the warm feeling of knowing that your many devices are safe in the hands of a quality charger that you know is going to get the job done quickly. It’s time to start throwing out your older USB wall chargers that provide minimal output and start replacing them with chargers like these, from iClever.
These USB wall chargers offer an assortment of flexible options that allow you to charge your devices not only quickly, but all at once without sacrificing on output. They are well built, and you can feel it in their weight as soon as you pick them up.
They offer a slick design with rounded edges, a smooth glossy finish, and a durable folding plug. Very Apple-esque in design, they look both trendy and smart (featuring “SmartID” technology) and pack a lot of power, providing anywhere from 3.0 total amps (Quick Charge model) to even 8.0 amps when in full use (the larger 4-port model). All of the chargers that we are about to mention are available in both black and white.
Each charger offers a soft blue glow from the ports when plugged into an outlet, making them easier to see in low-light so that you are not stumbling around with your cables. The glow is bright enough to see just fine while soft enough to not stand out as an eyesore or be distracting with the lights off. They don’t even waste any energy providing this feature as plugging them into a Kill-A-Watt meter shows that they are consuming less than 0.0 watts of energy when in standby with just the blue lights active (to find out how much energy those little LEDs require, you are going to have to move the decimal point more to the right a bit, which means you will never see it on your power bill).
Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
I’ll start off with the black charger pictured above, their single output Quick Charge 3.0 (3.0 amps) charger, that features Qualcomm’s chipset inside. This little guy is capable of charging devices that support Quick Charge 3.0 technology by up to 80% within the first 35 minutes alone (that’s 4x faster than normal chargers). Not bad when you’re in a tight moment without little time to spare and your phone is dying. It is also backward compatible with any devices that you may have that support the previous generations of the technology (Quick Charge 2.0 and 1.0).
At the moment, there aren’t too many devices that support QC 3.0 just yet (So far you have the HTC 10, HP Elite X3, LG G5, and the HTC One A9), but more are heading to the market in due time. There are 23 different devices on the market that support QC 2.0 (from companies like Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, and more), so you know the number for 3.0 will grow just as quickly.
The price is reasonable as you can get one on Amazon for only $16.99 right now, especially since a cheap knockoff charger from China that charges at a fraction of the pace generally runs around $5-7 on eBay. For a little more than 2x the price, you get 4x the charge and 10x the quality. I’d say that makes it a pretty good deal. Looking around, you can find companies selling these for around $19.99+, but Amazon is generally the best place to start since they are so well known for beating out the prices of others (outside of grocery at least).
Dual USB Wall Charger
Usually where these chargers go wrong, is when you find those that offer multiple outputs for more than one device to be charged at the same time. The issue is how much juice do they truly put out! Most of the cheaper brands or knock-offs will provide you will multiple USB ports, but tend to “share” a limited max output between them all. They may advertise as a 2.4 amp charger, but only squeeze that out of one port when no other ports are in use, else output may fall to something as low a 1.0 amps or less when each port is taken.
This is not the case with iClever’s Dual USB Wall Charger, which offers (as the name suggests), two USB ports. Each port puts out a total of up to 2.4 amps at the same time, giving you a max of 4.8 amps that the charger can deliver. Of course, your devices also have to be able to pull that much energy as well to get the full effect. Some older phones, tablets, and other gadgets, may only need as little as 300 mA (milliamps) to charge, so that is all they are going to pull from the charger (this is a safety precaution in chargers and devices to make sure you don’t blow them up). Be at ease knowing though, that if both devices can suck up 2.4 amps while charging, they can with this charger!
This one is an even bigger steal than the single port QC charger as you can find it on Amazon right now for only $10.99. Keep in mind, it does list the average price as around $29.99, so it may go up as this could be a sale price. At this price, it makes it the perfect travel companion for your devices. That is, of course, you need even more inputs than 2 (some people like to drag around all sorts of toys in their travel bags). This is where we move on to our next one!
4-Port USB Wall Charger
Just like the dual charger, iClever’s 4-port charger also packs a solid punch by providing up to 8.0 amps when in full use, connecting up to 4 devices at the same time. Now, in this unique situation, you do lose 0.4 amps per input when fully in use. It’s not a big loss and this may have something to do with safety or reliability. When 3 or fewer inputs are in use, you are getting 2.4 amps per port. Regardless, this is one of the top-performing 4-port USB chargers we have ever seen. This thing puts out a max of 40 watts of electricity. That is a lot of potential.
This is also a steal as you can currently find it on Amazon for only $19.99. It kind of feels like a bulk deal when you think about it. Get two ports for $11 or four ports for $20 and you save $1. Hopefully, all of these prices stay right where they are at, because when something so good is a steal, then you know you have a product that is going to shake the competition up and find its way into the hands of many people.
Our Conclusion
Heading over to our room where we file away everything that comes in (that isn’t simply lying around all over the place) as well as the things we buy for the office, you’ll find many storage and filing cabinets, all neatly labeled and organized for quick access to anything when we need to pull it. One of the drawers is filled with charging solutions. Some cheapos and some really nice ones. So of course, we whipped a few out here and there to test against iClever’s chargers. We used both a multimeter and an app called “Ampere” (available on Android devices) to determine how effective these really are.
They wound up performing up to par with some of our best chargers and even surpassed a few of them in both output and consistency. Most of the other chargers run around $19.99-$29.99, making iClever’s a hot ticket.
They are reliable and affordable, and there is something really nice to their design. They feel quite durable and would be the perfect solution for home, office, or travel. They received our seal of approval with a 10-star rating and we look forward to seeing what iClever does in the future.
