Here we are winding through the year, and our good friends at RevoNext dropped off a real gem this time: The RevoNext RX-6 In-Ear Sport Headphones seem to be just what the Doctor ordered. Let’s take a look, and a listen.
In The Box
The RevoNext RX-6 In-Ear Sport Headphones are designed in Sweden and manufactured in China. As such these in-ear solutions are reasonably priced for a wired pair of dual driver earphones. The retail box is small and contains a preformed foam backer which holds the two RevoNext RX-6 earpieces, small and large ear tips (the medium size are pre-installed on the earpieces), and two sets of extra ear hooks to provide that final sport fit. I found that the medium ear tips were fine and my comfort level increased when I changed out the medium ear hooks for the smaller slotted set. Inside a smaller box is the 2 pin 0.78 mm signal cable with a 3.5 mm jack. The installation of the cable to the earpieces is simple: line up the Ls and Rs on the earpieces and the ends of the cable and smoothly insert the two pins until they are properly seated. There is a velcro keeper at the 3.5mm jack end of the cable to keep everything neat when you aren’t wearing the headphones, and of course there is a bead to snug up the cable if desired. Finally there are the multi language instruction manual and warranty paperwork. Remember: these are wired in-ear solutions and can get very loud. Use all due caution as permanent ear damage can result from improper use. Let’s take them into the Lab:
Double the Fun
Most earbuds at this price would contain one dynamic driver which would be expected to reproduce full range sound in one’s ears. The engineers at RevoNext went one step further. The RevoNext RX-6 headphones contain the expected dynamic driver(DD) covering the low-end, and a balanced armature(BA) to cover the mids and high ranges. This allows the RX-6 headphones to accurately reproduce specific frequency ranges with great high and mid frequency clarity and an amazing low-end presence. I spent several hours listening to the usual mix of music(Rock, Classical, Jazz, RnB, House) in various devices including but not limited to iOS, Android, and a Kindle HD Fire. Once I had the proper bits in place, I found the RevoNext RX-6 Sport Headphones to be very comfortable and easy to wear without noticeable ear fatigue over several hours. I had no problems with the headphones falling out of my ears whether I was running or jogging on the office treadmill, or pedaling away on my bicycle during my lunch break. If you’d like a more secure fit, simply snug the keeper bead until you feel comfortable. The first thing I noticed about the RevoNext RX-6 Sport Headphones was their brilliant clarity coupled with a smooth low-end presence. The stereo imaging seems to jump right out and when listening to music with a wide dynamic range I was very impressed with the responsive nature of the two drivers. While listening to operatic music every part of the recording was clear and the voices were realistic and full. The noise isolation works great: I was easily able to ignore my telephone calls all morning. For an extra 2 dollars you could upgrade to the phone able cable if you wanted to use these in your smartphone for more than just a great listening experience. At low or high volumes the DD and BA worked flawlessly to supply a great sounding full range audio experience.
Final Thoughts
As usual: the folks at RevoNext hit one out of the park: The RevoNext RX-6 In-Ear Sports Headphones supply great full range sound utilizing dual audio drivers, at a very reasonable price. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing these headphones no matter if I was listening to Rock and Roll from Chuck Berry, a David Guetta mix, or the London Philharmonic. My test set was supplied in basic black, but are also available in grey or red. Note: these in-ear solutions were launched with a bluetooth cable accessory which we are really hoping to get in our hands soon. The Swedish designed RevoNext RX-6 Sport Headphones get a healthy 9 out of 10 for a great product at a great price. Can’t wait to see the next great product from the company whose name means Revolution Next.
