TaoTronics 40 Inch Soundbar – Digital + Bluetooth For the Win

This week I showed up at the office after a short vacation to find the TaoTronics 40 inch Soundbar sitting on my desk making a mess of my mess.  It’s a multi driver audio solution for the cheap onboard speakers in most modern flat screen Tvs with multiple ways to connect including BlueTooth. Let’s take it into the listening room!

Out of The Box

This TaoTronics 40 Inch Soundbar is packaged in a shipping carton with no frills. Inside you’ll find the carefully packed 40 inch Soundbar, the AC power adapter, an optical cable, a stereo RCA to 3.5 mm Stereo jack cable, and a remote control. There is  a Soundbar connection Instruction pamphlet which uses clear illustrations and simple language to help you quickly get your TV connected to the Soundbar using the included optical cable, the RCA/3.5 mm cable, or with your own cable, there is a coax digital connection.

The next item you’ll find is the multilingual user guide which has finer details and the instructions to properly connect using the Bluetooth utility and the remote control functions. The remote control does not include batteries and requires two AAA batteries to operate.

This is a standalone unit without a subwoofer. The TaoTronics soundbar is made to either be wall mounted (with included hardware and foam isolation bumpers), or just sit on your TV stand. Finally there is a business card with links to leave a review on Amazon or extend your warranty to 18 months.

More Than TV

Although the TaoTronics Soundbar is absolutely intended to replace the internal speakers in today’s flat screen televisions, the Bluetooth capability allows you to also use this multi driver soundbar as your room’s music solution.

Let’s talk connection: It was easy for me to just use the included optical cable to connect to my Samsung UN40ES6150F in my office. The sound was absolutely improved instantly from the factory built-in speakers. The TaoTronics Soundbar is not only sharp-looking, it’s also got an easy to read LED screen to indicate your connection choices from Coax, Aux(RCA), Optical, or Bluetooth. Below the screen are onboard controls which include power, mute, and volume +/-.  The multi function remote control allows you to power up/down, choose between inputs, raise and lower the volume, play/pause tracks on bluetooth connected devices, mute or pause the sound from any connections. The remote is not really large and could quite easily be lost on a bed.  The TaoTronics Soundbar has a low profile and can easily fill a medium-sized room or bedroom with clear and powerful sound.  The soundbar improves the low-end, and gives a real presence to your viewing experience and it was well able to play just music with full range enjoyment. Remember: without a subwoofer, this is a full range device and will give a great experience, just not an actual “Theater Experience”.  This TaoTronics device easily achieves strong volume levels and whether you are watching a movie, or news programs; the voices are clear and full. I also spent time pairing the TaoTronics soundbar to my various test devices including iOS devices, android tablets/phones, and my Kindle Fire HD. Just turn on your BT and look for TT-SK019 and connect. This soundbar really brings a good full range sound no matter how you connect, and it’s loud enough to be a stand alone for a small house party. Combining BT volume from an android device with full volume on the soundbar can cause some distortion at high volume levels so take proper caution.

Final Thoughts

The TaoTronics Soundbar model TT-SK019 in 40 inch length is a very versatile full range soundbar with many ways to connect to your TV, smartphone, or tablet. It sounds good whether you’re watching movies, the news, or just regular Television surfing. It also functions as a stand alone stereo sound system with plenty of volume and a good amount of low-end, when one considers there is no subwoofer. At the time of publishing, there is a 15 dollar off coupon for this device which brings the price to a very reasonable $69.99. I give the TaoTronics Soundbar a 9 out of ten.
