The last of the CES 2019 joy is finally calming down at the office and I thought I’d better finish my homework for the month: Today we will take a look and a listen to the Whizzer Kylin A-HE03 Triple Driver Hybrid IEM Earphones containing 1 dynamic driver for low-end and two balanced armature drivers to cover the midrange and high range. I took my time to get a good feel for these very powerful sounding IEM(In Ear Monitor) earbuds: Let’s go into the listening room!

In the Box
The folks at Whizzer have supplied a rather large retail box for these well designed and comfortable A-HE03 earphones. Contained within the black box and nested in a foam board are the two Triple Driver earphones. Beneath that tray you will find the 5N OFC+ SPC mixed braided cable. The cable is constructed of high purity single crystal copper for highest quality along with two 0.78 mm 2 pin gold-plated plugs on each earpiece end of the cable and a gold-plated 3.5mm jack for input: follow the clearly illustrated included instructions to align the left and right cable ends then insert into the ear pieces.
When they are properly connected the pre-curved ends will easily slip over one’s ears and easily snug into your ear canal. Finally on the cable there is a bead shaped slider so you can snug it up when jogging. Whizzer has included 3 sets of Silicone eartips in sizes small, medium, and large along with two pair of memory foam eartips in small and medium sizes which are labelled as T-100 and T-400 respectively. Finally there is a grey colored round case to allow you to carefully store your Whizzer A-HE03 Hybrid IEM earphones to protect from dirt, dust, water, or physical damage. The case is not waterproof, it seems to be constructed of vinyl composite, and uses a magnetic closure. Inside the Whizzer earphones is a dynamic driver for the low-end, and Knowles TWFK-30017 Hybrid drivers to cover mids and highs. I used the medium size silicone eartips and got going on my testing: Like all earphones and headphones I test I will be listening to any and all genres of music through various devices including but not limited to iOS devices, Android phones and tablets, laptops and PCs. I also put the Whizzer Kylin earphones on my test bench to check frequency response and note the equalization curve. Let’s go there!
I Heard A Thump
The very first thing I noticed about the Whizzer Kylin A-HE03 earphone was a greatly pronounced low-end provided by the dynamic drivers. Then I realized that thumping low-end was well-balanced by the Knowles Hybrid BA drivers. The Stereo separation is clear and the stereo imaging is open and obvious. Between the lows, mids, and highs, you can really notice that the coverage is smooth and very even. No part of the spectrum seems to push out except when the dynamics of the music create that type of presence. When listening to Rock, or RnB, Classical or Jazz, or whatever; the characteristics of clear, balanced lows, mids and highs didn’t change. Realize that these earphones are not limited by a built-in amplifier so use all due caution when listening at high volumes: the Whizzer Kylin A-HE03 Hybrid earphones
can get plenty loud and damage can result over time if one isn’t careful. Hearing damage can be permanent so use all due caution when using these earphones or any similar in-ear monitor solution. I brought the Whizzer Kylin Hybrid earphones to my test bench where I put pink noise into the earphones then looked at the output curve. They ramped up evenly from frequency to frequency. When listening to sine waves I determined that the earbuds are able to reproduce musical sounding tones down to 40 Hz without having any issues. Even 30 Hz sounded smoother than many Dynamic In ear solutions I’ve listened to in the past several months without making a BUZZING sound. Finally I put the Whizzer Kylin A-HE03 Hybrid earphones into my mixing desk and spent a half hour singing along with Karaoke tracks and other sources to see if these earphones really deserve a IEM rating. I found the earphones to be responsive, and my voice was clear and strong in my ears while still properly reproducing the stereo imaging I created at the board. Remember that different musicians have different aural needs on a live stage with their in-ear solution: I would consider these earphones suitable for vocals, guitar range instruments, or Bass guitarists. They get loud enough for a drummer’s needs but once again: This is why many drummers have hearing problems.
Final Thoughts
The Whizzer Kylin A-HE03 Hybrid Triple Driver IEM earphones are a set of great sounding, great looking, comfortable, and well constructed pair of professional level In Ear Monitors. These hybrid earphones are capable of reproducing a wide range of balanced sound without forgetting about the low-end, or muffling the mids or highs. They would work as well jogging down the street as on a live stage, and look good doing it. I haven’t removed them from my ears yet today and I’ve still got half a day left to enjoy listening to music while reading my emails. 9 out of 10: these are for the truly discriminating listener with a higher limited budget.
