The whole world might be juggling lockdowns and trying to get through the COVID-19 troubles that have been plaguing everyone, but that doesn’t stop various hacking groups from terrorizing the web with breaches that result in millions of records being snatched from major websites and companies. Some of these records might even be yours.
In the latest round, a group of hackers that call themselves “ShinyHunters” have found their way into popular sources like Zoosk (online dating platform), Chatbooks, and more–walking away with account information for millions of users. Now, they are selling this information on the dark web to anyone willing to pay for it all.
To find out if your account might be included in the mix, check to see if you have been registered with any of the websites or apps in the following list:
- Zoosk (dating app)
- Chatbooks.com
- Minted.com
- Chronicle.com
- Startribune.com
- Mindful.org
- Homechef.com
- Styleshare.kr
- GGuMim.co.kr
- Bhinneka.com
Although they haven’t all been completely verified as the group behind all of these, researchers have been leaning toward everything being legitimate information. It is also unknown if past breaches might also be related to this group or not. They have also gone after data from websites like GitHub and Tokopedia, resulting in major leaks database information.
If you are registered with any of the above websites/services, it is highly recommended that you change your password information. We also (always) advise never using the same password more than once, as this is the most common way that the individuals find their way into accounts once one of them has been breached.
Can’t remember all of your passwords and/or prefer to strengthen your passwords without having to remember them all? Sign up for a password vault service like Dashlane or Keeper.
