Originally reported by Reuters, another player has entered the game ready to take on companies like Intel and AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc) in the design of processors, and was built by former executives of these various companies.
What could be good for competition and the neverending race for technological evolution, this new company (NUVIA) aims to challenge the enterprise-side of things, with a focus on data center processors. They aim to develop solutions that deliver greater performance while also improving energy efficiency.
They have recently secured millions of dollars from sources such as Dell Technologies Capital, and are making a move to expand by the end of this year (possible job opportunities if you live in the Santa Clara [CA] area).
Of course, this could also put the hurt on both Intel and AMD, who have already been pressed to neck to neck in competition as they both seek to dominate both consumer and enterprise markets, with other companies like Qualcomm gaining speed from behind.
There is no word yet on future ambitions and where they plan to go from there once they hit the ground running with working solutions. For now, their goals seem to only relate to the enterprise world of data centers.
