ADATA is preparing to launch its first Gen5 NVMe model which looks to be hitting stores next month. It will be the new ADATA Legend 970 PCIe Gen5 x4 NVMe SSD, and with it comes all of the glory that Gen5 NVMe has to offer.
The new drives will be available in 1TB ($189.99 MSRP) and 2TB ($329.99 MSRP) options and will come with an included heatsink that features a built-in fan to help cool the NVMe of its heat (these drives can typically get pretty hot). This fan is expected (by ADATA) to reduce the temperature of the drive by around 10% (every little bit helps).
Both models will feature sequential read/write speeds of up to 10,000MB/s. This is where Gen5 really shines, delivering some of the fastest speeds we’ve ever seen in a drive (not that we’ve tested it ourselves just yet).
Packed along with a 5-year warranty to make sure the drive performs as it should, it should be launching sometime next month per the listing on Amazon. With shipments estimated to land sometime around the middle of the month.
That being said, they will be available via Amazon and are already listed. Although the pricing is inflated at the moment, likely so no one orders any just yet (this happens from time to time when a listing launches too early via the retailer.
