Well, it’s about time that Amazon has caught up to this feature. As Amazon Prime Video grows to be one of Netflix’s greatest nemeses, they are just now planning to roll out a feature that Netflix has offered for quite a while now–the ability to create separate profiles for everyone in the family.
Not everyone in the house wants the same kind of shows/movies recommended to them. While dad really wants to know what happens next in Jack Ryan, mom might be more interested in shows like Hanna. Younger kids will likely be interested in neither as all they want are more cartoons. Well, now everyone can be targeted a lot more clearly.
Parents will be able to restrict what their kids can watch and dad can finally relax as he will no longer be recommended the next season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It’s a surprise that Amazon hasn’t jumped on this bandwagon yet. At least they have earned a few brownie points for eventually getting on.
The new feature is currently rolling out to select platforms, including their mobile apps as well as certain devices you’d typically find Amazon Prime Video available on. The rollout may not happen all at once so have patience. It won’t be long before you can isolate your own preferences and lists.
