Magic Leap: Another start-up company that has been raising attention as a video they produced made its rounds around the web, supposedly demonstrating what they hope to accomplish when they are finished designing a new VR solution.
Recently we covered the VR One by Carl Zeiss, showing its amusing triumphs in what it was already capable of doing, even though there is a very thin selection of apps available at the moment–given, that will change in the coming months. Other companies, such as HTC, have also announced their own VR headset they plan to release in the near future.
Everyone seems to be chasing after the dream that Oculus Rift originally had (but failed to deliver to consumers fast enough). Now it appears to be an all out VR war, starting with the 2nd and 3rd quarter of this year mostly as the additional headsets make their way to the market.
Magic Leap currently doesn’t have anything more than their concept video, causing some skepticism over if the video is a fake or something that truly paints the dream of a new company. Meanwhile, their website shares additional images and animations depicting how VR could be used to entertain and educate, which points to the possibility that they are more than serious about their vision. Clearly, the video is a conceptual format of what they plan to accomplish, and the technology is not ready as of yet. Therefore, of course it is highly edited as most likely there isn’t even a prototype as of yet. That’s what concept videos are for–to share with you sneak of what is not yet possible to demonstrate, but will hopefully be soon.
Give the video a look for yourself and see what you think? Can they pull it off? Can they be equally as amusing as the upcoming HoloLens by Microsoft? Tell us what you think below in the comments! Here is the video:
