AORUS, a brand by Gigabyte Technology, makers of some of your favorite motherboards, video cards and more, have a new NVMe SSD series coming that is going to rock the world of gaming and more.
The new SSDs are their new PCIe Gen 4 models (PCI-Express 4.0) that bring with them a large boost of speed compared to their previous Gen 3 series that were already quite impressive as is. The new drives can hit read speeds as high as 5GBps, and write speeds as high as 4.4GBps, blowing past a vast majority of SSD models currently available. In fact, this places them as one of the fastest consumer available NVMe solutions out there, and there is no doubt that gamers and professionals will be jumping to get their hands on one.
They pack a 28nm Phison PS5016-E16 controller featuring eight NAND channels with 32 CE targets, DDR4 DRAM caching, and a PCIe 4.0×4 interface (additional features can be found below).
Fully covered by a copper heat spreader, temperatures can be kept lower than your average NVMe drive, helping to enhance performance, and extend the lifespan of the drive. Available in both 1TB and 2TB options, they are perfect for boot drives that contain a lot of powerful apps and games.
There is no word on the exact release date just yet, nor is there any pricing information. However, you can expect to see them launching soon via your favorite retailers that carry AORUS products–and chances are, the price will reflect a bit of a premium in it.
