There are plenty of Thunderbolt 4 (TB4) cables out there to pick from, ranging from short to a few meters in length. However, Apple feels that size matters since there isn’t anything longer for those needing a little extra distance. Therefore, Apple launched a 3-meter (9.84 ft) TB4 Pro cable to push ahead of the competition.
This is perfect for those with desktop setups that need to run to a docking station, hub, monitor, or eGPU that is further away from the tower. Of course, like anything coming from Apple, it does come at a price as it will cost you $159 to get your hands on this cable.
Now we are in the territory of some of those crazy cables that feature various forms of carbon fiber materials or optical fiber on the inside. Only this doesn’t have any of that. It is just a braided TB4 cable that happens to be a little longer than the rest (most others only get to about 6.6ft in length).
So if length is something you need, you will have to cough up a little cash for it. Of course, it likely won’t be long before generic brands start biting back with their own solutions at half the price or less. For now, though, this is your only option until then.
