Bad news for AT&T users today as the company suffers from another outage issue affecting customers across the nation. This outage is preventing certain customers from being able to make or take calls to/from users outside of the AT&T network (ie, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc).
This is the second time that the company’s network has suffered a major stroke causing customers to lose connectivity to other networks, with the previous event happening in February. This last event was described by AT&T as being “due to an incorrect process it executed as part of a network expansion upgrade”.
AT&T has not provided an exact reason for this outage just yet, thus it could be due to another blooper during its own updates, or it could be something more concerning, such as a cybersecurity incident. The latter is something that has been on a hard rise this year, with major companies getting hit, one right after another, or in bulk as hackers target third-party tools and services that major companies make use of.
Thankfully, since the company has shown a history of network rollout bloopers, there is a higher chance that it could be due to a similar mistake. Then again, the company also experienced a breach in March that leaked sensitive customer information.
AT&T customers have (of course) been taking to the internet to share their frustrations or confusion with others. Looking for an explanation as to why this is happening or to confirm that it isn’t just them experiencing this.
