Bambu Lab has grown in popularity due to its user-friendly and stable printer solutions. Becoming a preference for many hardened enthusiasts. But no company is void of mistakes or rounds of bad luck. With that, the company recently announced a recall of its A1 Printer. Sending emails out to owners letting them know about their options.
The company is asking users to power down their models and unplug them due to an issue with the heat bed that may affect certain users. Apparently, some users are experiencing troubles with the power cable coming loose, leading to potential shorts or complete power loss. So in order to avoid continued failures, or even worse, shock, the company is asking users to choose one of the following.
- Return it for a full refund (users will also get an $80 credit toward a different Bambu model).
- Keep the unit and wait for a replacement heat bed, receive a 6-month warranty extension, plus receive a $120 credit to the Bambu store.
Bambu is aiming to get replacement beds shipped within the next few months. The company has also mentioned that those who purchased it via a certified third-party reseller should be able to return it to that seller with the same stipulations. It has also pointed out that users sending it back for refund should pack the printer into its original box. This part may be a little debatable since I’m sure the majority of people might have thrown that out by now. So it will be interesting to see if they actually enforce that or not.
Meanwhile, Bambu and partnered retail stores are pulling the model from available inventory until an updated version of the printer is available later in the year. If you have purchased one yourself, you can likely expect to get an email from the company (unless you purchased it from a reseller, in which you may just want to reach out to that reseller to request instructions or bring it back to that store).
Again, this is just a general mishap that likely never popped up during internal testing. This can happen to any company. One of our own has the Bambu P1S and she swears by it through and through. So don’t let this take anything away from your previous opinions about the company.
