Beyerdynamic showed off their new Phonum wireless Bluetooth speaker this week for the first time at InfoComm 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. The new Bluetooth speaker is centered around professionals looking to take their conference calls out of the office, but with speakerphone quality you normally find in devices from (other) popular companies like Polycom. Take that quality and introduce microphones designed by a company like beyerdynamic, and you sure to find a promising solution.
Phonum is a battery-powered speakerphone that connects to your mobile device (via either Bluetooth or USB Type-C) so that you can share your discussion openly with those around you. It features a three-piece microphone array on the inside to give you 360-degree pickup, as well as a down-firing speaker which opens it up to higher volumes as it resonates the sound off of the surface beneath it.
Small enough to fit in your hand, it allows you to bring the office with you wherever you go. With up to 12 hours (when using Bluetooth) of usage before needing to be recharged again, it should cover any of your needs. Of course, it isn’t just limited to business professionals. Why not have it available on your kitchen island when you need hands free and the ability for the entire room to interact.
We will find out more about this in the near future, including performance and launch date information, once we get our hands on one. It sounds like the price tag will fall between $349-$399, so our expectations are already hanging pretty high. Thankfully beyerdynamic is the right brand to deliver performance where needed.
