The chip shortage is something that has been causing a lot of trouble throughout the entire tech industry. Affecting the availability of gaming consoles, motherboards, video cards, and more. The cause is a mixture of things from manufacturing speeds to ships stuck waiting to dock because there just isn’t a spot at the port for them to unload their goods.
Things may start getting better as things are spread to other docks and dock hours extend to take on additional work. However, until then, we are forced to endure the various parts of the industry that are affected by it (and it’s a lot). Now, you can add digital cameras to the mix.
Sony says it has paused taking orders for its new Alpha ZV-E10 (mirrorless vlog camera), a model that just launched a few months ago (August) targeting smaller those with smaller budgets looking to get their hands on something adequate for online videos. Sony is looking to focus on other models in order to keep up with demand.
Hopefully, this isn’t something we are going to run into with all of the companies causing a lack of budget models. Which tend to sell in higher quantities compared to the pricier option-filled alternatives. You can absolutely bet that it won’t be the last product to run into issues caused by the shortage. Sony alone has a number of other products the company decided to let go of this year to help counter shortages. So the patience game continues as the shipping industry and other variables eventually fall back into a normal (stable) process.
