Hey Mario fans! Google teamed up with Nintendo to give you the chance to race around the streets as Mario from Mario Kart, all thanks to an update today for Google Maps adding this neat Easter egg to your travels. To celebrate Mario this March 10 (“MAR10” Day), Google will be allowing you to switch out your boring navigation arrow with Mario in his beloved kart (or is it the beloved Mario in his kart?).

Although the day of celebration is tomorrow, Google has rolled out the update a day early. All you need is the Google Maps app on your Android or iOS device (sorry Windows users, once again, no soup for you). Before anything, you will have to make sure your app is updated as without today’s update, you won’t see the option.
Open your Google Maps app and find a location you would like to travel to and look for a yellow “?” icon near the bottom right-right of your screen (to the left of the “start” button). Click the “?” and it will ask if you want to navigate as Mario. Click “Let’s-A-Go!” and your cursor will change.

The new Easter egg will continue to function for a week, allowing you to get plenty of time as Mario on the roads. Of course, don’t catch yourself getting too carried away as you don’t want any tickets. Google also reminds you to do the same.
Google: “Just remember to practice safe driving on the road—we don’t encourage throwing bananas or red shells at other drivers in real life!”
This might possibly be one of the best ways to make use of your maps while driving. What else could be such a perfect match for hitting the road as? (seriously, if you think me wrong, feel free to offer your opinions below in the comments)
As mentioned, the update was launched today. If you don’t see the update immediately, just give it some time and it should eventually pop up in your list of updates.
