We wanted to briefly talk about one of our favorite products on the show floor of the recent InfoComm 2018. The business side of Dell’s company was on-site showing off some of their hottest items for the commercial world, including a giant 86-inch multi-touch display. However, what caught our eye was a tad smaller than that. It was their beautiful 32-inch (*31.5 actual) 8K monitor they had on display: the Dell Ultrasharp UP3218K.
Not everyone is in need of such a high-resolution screen (at least not yet), which is why this is reserved for their B2B (business to business) side of the market. However, this doesn’t mean that one can’t awe at its wonderful presentation. Perfect for graphic and video designers, the monitor’s resolution allows a user to dive deep into the color spectrum and image detail, delivering an end product that is guaranteed to look great on all possible display scenarios (ie, signage, theater, consumer and so forth).
It requires two DisplayPort connections to get the 8K resolution (7680×4320), so a system with multiple monitor support is required to use this. It is limited to 60 Hz, so you most likely won’t be using this for gaming just yet, if you are one of those hardcore gamer types that doesn’t care how much money goes into their build–and of course price is the one thing that separates this from a normal consumer as it carries a whopping price tag of $4999. So you will most likely be a prosumer or company who is heavily invested in their work to make such a financial stretch.
Regardless, we had to highlight this as one of our favorite products on the show floor this year. The display looked absolutely amazing, and now we cannot wait until 8K becomes a standard on all levels of the market.
