DeLorean is taking a stab at EV companies like Tesla, Faraday, and Lucid with the announcement of its very own all-electric vehicle that will bring DeLorean back to the game (if it sells). A model that takes the old and brings it into the future with an all-new (and all-electric) look. It is the new DeLorean Alpha5. It isn’t the first reveal of the upcoming vehicle as it has been hinted to throughout the year, but this is some of the best visual data we have seen yet.
Like the original DeLorean model, the Alpha5 will feature a two-door gull-wing design (the doors that open upward). It will have seats in both the front and back that will be accessible from these doors. The overall design looks to be a perfect balance between retro and modern (at least, what we now see as becoming the new modern).

It will be able to make it to 60 mph is just 2.9 seconds and reach speeds as high as 155. Showing the company definitely plans to take on Tesla, although current speculation surrounding what the company plans to charge for it may curb that a bit ($175K+).
There is no set date on when the DeLorean Motor Company plans to start taking pre-orders, but it is taking newsletter subscriptions on its site where it will first announce details on the next step toward reserving something. That step is aimed to happen some time this Summer.
