Theater cinema in the home has been growing so incredibly strong in recent years thanks to immersive technologies like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Surround audio that sounds so incredibly real and surrounds you at every possible angle, including above your head. The jump toward these new formats hasn’t always been affordable, just like any new technology. However, they have been out long enough that you are finally seeing some of these prices reach a much more reasonable number.
One of the best options for getting your hands on Dolby Atmos (5.2.2) and DTS:X is Denon’s AVR-X2500H 7.2 channel receiver. Not only is it a wonderful AVR, but it comes with some of the latest support for these formats, as well as support for things like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing you to control it with your voice or build it into your smart home scenes/actions.
You get 95 watts per channel, providing plenty of power for nearly any consumer speaker and support for 4K HDR passthrough. It features built-in Bluetooth support, as well as WiFi, AirPlay, and Amazon Music HD streaming (and more!). It’s a pretty powerful option for the price and all thanks to the simple fact that a newer version of it released last year (which currently runs $649). So that pushed the price of this version/model down to just $349, making it one of the most powerful and affordable Atmos receivers out there.
It has been discontinued (out of stock) by Denon, therefore it won’t be long before these aren’t available anywhere. So if you are looking to build into an affordable Atmos/DTS:X experience in your home, this is a wonderful option to make that happen with.
