A little something for buyers who don’t practice in dropping down $1000-2000 every time they want to upgrade their AVR or buy a new one, Denon has announced a few new additions to their family with the AVR-S720W and AVR-S920W S-Series receivers.
Falling within the $500-600 range, they offer a strong list of features while still maintaining a price tag that most consumers would find reasonable. Both units offer support for the new Dolby Atmos format as well as DTS:X which will come later on in a future firmware update.
They offer 75-90 watts per channel at 8ohms depending on which model you buy into and both support full 4K and 3D passthrough which is quite important with today’s TVs and media formats both now and soon to come. They also support Bluetooth and WiFi for streaming media wirelessly to them and support the “Denon 2016 AVR Remote” app available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire devices. You get 6 (AVR-S720W) to 8 (AVR-S920W) HDMI ports that fully support HDMI 2.0a with HDCP 2.2 encryption.
