What if you could enhance your abilities to learn new things, let it be an a random lesson like playing the guitar, or your studies in college, simply by wearing a fancy headset that shocks your head into overdrive? Regardless of how you take in that sentence or respond to it, there are those out there that think this is possible, and are working on making it more obtainable for regular consumers.
There appears to be both students and professionals from around the world that are already doing this, and they are being labeled as “biohackers”. By using special headsets to “deliver electrical signals to the brain” (sounds a little like shock therapy right?), they believe that they can enhance memory and your ability to properly take in new information.
A new company by the name of “HUMM” is hard at work on a headset that does just this, and they call it “Edge” (to give you an edge on the competition with). They say that this will be the first working headset available to the public, that activates the part of the brain used for “memory and learning”. They say that there is no side effects nor any additional activities (like meditation or diets) required for it to function properly. A science that has been studied for over 20 years.

“For the past two years, we’ve been developing a way for people to stay at the top of their game whenever they need it most; at school, the office, or even in their favorite hobby,” said Iain McIntyre, co-founder and CEO, HUMM. “Until recently this electrical brain stimulation technology has been confined to neuroscience labs, where the devices were very clinical and expensive, or hacked together with wires and batteries n the homes of hardcore biohackers. The Edge headset solves all of those issues so that now anyone can focus more, learn more and kick their learning speed into overdrive.”
They aren’t quite available just yet, but you can sign up to get on their early access program for discounts and included consultation to help get a better understanding about how it all works. You can learn more about them from their website here. It will be launching later next year (2019).
