Epson is getting ready to release one of its best 4K options it has to offer in projection. Although it isn’t “the” best (that would be the LS12000), it would fall into second place for those looking to save a little. It is the new Epson Home Cinema LS11000 4K PRO-UHD Laser Projector.
With a slightly better price tag of $3,999 (vs the $4,999 of the LS12000), the projector offers a lot of similar features while still creating a wide enough gap between the two models to justify the flagship option (at least, for those that can afford it). Now that this model is drastically more affordable or anything.
The LS11000 also offers 4K resolution using pixel shifting. This is made possible by a 3-Chip 3LCD projector engine, with each chip providing a 1080p image and then uses advanced pixel shifting to upscale the resolution to 4K proper at up to 300-inches (screen size). Now only that, but you also get up to 120Hz refresh rate, allowing you to really bring out the image in both video content and video games.
It has strong HDR support, a 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio, 2500 lumens, less than 20ms latency (making it still usable for non-competitive gaming), Dolby Atmos support, and more. It does sound like a strong projector in many ways. While the LS12000 basically builds further on this with an even better contrast ratio, slightly brighter picture, and other features worth bragging about.
Many may find the LS11000 good enough while serious moviegoers and gamers will still flock to the LS12000. Neither will be good for competitive gaming, but both are good for everything else, along with anything video (movies, TV, etc).
