GameSir just announced something that’s going to catch the eye of any Fortnite player who’s tired of tapping a touchscreen. The gaming peripheral brand has officially partnered with Epic’s mega-hit to launch a collection of Fortnite-branded mobile controllers, and it’s leading off with two models built for very different kinds of players.
Basically, the collection kicks off with the GameSir G8 Plus Fortnite Edition and the GameSir X5 Lite for XBOX Fortnite Edition. The G8 Plus is being positioned as the flagship option, aimed at players who want console-level performance on the go. It comes with Hall Effect sticks (which resist the annoying stick drift that plagues a lot of controllers over time), mappable rear buttons for quicker edits and building, and ergonomics meant to hold up during marathon gaming sessions. The X5 Lite, on the other hand, is the more travel-friendly pick — lightweight, wired, and built for players who just want something simple and responsive to plug in and go.
Both controllers are getting the full Fortnite treatment visually, with character-inspired artwork and collectible-style packaging, so this isn’t just a reskin — it sounds like GameSir wants these to feel like something worth displaying, not just using. And here’s a nice bonus: every controller comes bundled with a digital in-game item, ranging from emotes like Bully and Gun Show to gliders like Cerberus and Storm Sigil, depending on which one you pick up.
The partnership is being handled through IMG Licensing, and GameSir’s VP of Partnerships noted the goal wasn’t just to slap a logo on an existing product, but to build something that actually feels like a true Fortnite experience from the hardware up. Fair enough — plenty of licensed gaming gear ends up feeling like an afterthought, so it’ll be worth seeing if GameSir backs that claim up once these are in players’ hands.
As for when you can actually get one, GameSir says the collection is launching this fall (October 20th) through its own site as well as major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart (currently in pre-order phase). The GameSir G8 Plus will see an MSRP of $89.99 and GameSir X5 Lite $49.99
It’s a pretty logical move on paper — Fortnite’s audience skews heavily mobile and cross-platform, and GameSir has built a name for itself with Hall Effect tech that’s become something of an industry standard for drift resistance. Whether the branding alone is enough to get you to upgrade your setup is another question entirely.
Are you the type to buy into a game-branded controller for the aesthetic, or does performance alone decide what you buy? Let us know in the comments.
