Oh, how exciting it is to see a major fiber provider coming to another major city. Especially when that provider is capable of multi-gigabit services. With that, Google Fiber recently got the thumbs up from officials to start building things out in Clark County (Nevada). Now, we have a little more information to follow that up with, and it’s the kind if information most will be looking for.
One of the most important details is going to be pricing. As of right now, it seems the pricing that Google Fiber plans to roll with falls in line with its other locations, making for some enticing deals waiting for those living in Las Vegas.
- 1 Gig would be $70/mo
- 2 Gig would be $100/mo
- 5 Gig would be $125/mo
- 8 Gig would be $150/mo
This is for resident pricing (which is always subject to change, of course) and business plans would include 1 Gig at $100/mo and 2 Gig at $250/mo. All of these bring competitive packages and pricing that will help move things along when it comes to putting pressure on certain competition in the valley.
Google Fiber plans to start offering services to its first customers by the middle of 2025. This makes for an aggressive timeline and good news for those who have been patiently waiting for fiber in areas where Quantum or Cox fiber alternatives aren’t available just yet.
Our offices are here in Las Vegas and it is quite mind-blowing that almost all of us who work here live in neighborhoods that have yet to see fiber. I mean, what’s the chance of that being that we are decently spread about? Quantum is pushing hard and its efforts are commendable, reaching various parts of the valley. While Cox seems to be trailing far behind with little effort being made. So it will be interesting to see who will be ahead of who by the end of next year if Google Fiber truly plans on pushing ahead as quickly as it says. We, along with many others, will be patiently waiting.
