The Google Nest Hub can already do so much and it is about to get even better. Currently, the hub is capable of displaying local weather information, but soon it will also include air quality details about the air outside as well. Warning the user of any potential hazards outside.
The new air quality features will include an AQI (Air Quality Index) badge within the clock/weather widget. You can also ask Google about the air quality as well by saying “What’s the air quality near me”, and receive alerts when the air quality drops to an unhealthy level.
It will be rolling out in the coming weeks, although at the moment, it is only available in select US markets. It hasn’t fully been disclosed on which markets these will be just yet. The user can fully opt out of the new feature once it does roll out.
Air quality is a growing interest due to the many wildfires that have been affecting states like California and increased knowledge of the gases and particles that surround us every day. Thankfully, there are plenty of air quality monitoring solutions in the market already that consumers can rely on. From special apps on their phone to physical devices from companies like Airthings.
The Google Nest Hub, it is available from many of your favorite retailers like Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Staples, Best Buy, B&H, and Office Depot.
