Have you ever found yourself dancing at a hot club experience with music blaring, lights hypnotizing, video walls adding extra layers of immersion, and all while standing in a room that’s perfectly quiet? It’s an odd trend in my opinion, but it’s called “Silent Disco”, and it’s starting to pop up across the nation (you can find an example here).
The whole idea is that the DJ has a wireless transmitter connected to their setup. The crowd wears wireless headphones that all receive the same frequency being transmitted by the DJ. Turn it up to whatever volume you want, and get dancing. To shake things up a little further, you can change between different frequencies on the headphones, as there is usually more than one DJ, making you the DJ of the DJs.
Now, you can do the same thing at home or at the office, or anywhere else you’d like to make some noise (without actually making it). A company by the name of VocoPro announced a new product dubbed the SilentDisco-310 system.
You’ll have limited range compared to a top of the line professional solution, but they still advertise up to 300 ft of range for the connected headphones (to each transmitter). It operates within the 900 MHz spectrum and both transmitters and headphones are rechargeable (up to 8 hours of usage).
It should make a landing online soon, and it comes with everything you need for a multi-DJ experience, including three (3) transmitters and ten (10) headphones to receive it all with. Naturally, they will most likely sell additional headphones if you want to expand on the number of people listening. Overall, it will cost somewhere between $1,100-$1,500 when it launches.
You can find VocoPro products on Amazon (link/button below), where they sell a large assortment of related electronics, like microphone solutions, in-ear solutions, complete karaoke systems and more. The new SIlentDisco-310 should drop shortly into that list.
