It has been a year since Jawbone announced that they were working on a version of their UP app for Windows Phone devices. They even included a sneak peak of the app. However, the one thing we haven’t seen since that announcement, was the app.
Consumers who sport their Windows Phones have been waiting patiently (and some, not so patiently) since then, sharing their interest in the upcoming app and disappointments in the fact that it has taken so long, in comments across the web.
At the time of their announcement, Jawbone did show interest in looking for a programmer to head the project, but apparently something somewhere didn’t work out so well. Because of that, Jawbone’s website still shows the Windows Phone app as “coming soon”.
This causes trouble as their packaging on certain models displays that they offer support for Windows Phone 8.1 devices. Buying into one with such hopes will only lead to confusion as the documentation inside and the website list only Android and iOS. Something we can back up since we have 3 of them floating around the office here, including the original one we reviewed November of last year. The following is an image of the latest model we got our hands on.
Hopefully, we will see a Windows Phone app real shortly, especially with the upcoming release of the new Windows Phone 10 OS devices. The cross-platform support that Windows 10 has to offer is going to be a big demand in the app market of things.
