JBL has announced some of its latest product line that will be launching this year and one of these products offer something we haven’t seen just yet. At CES 2023 in Las Vegas, the company unveiled a new pair of wireless earbuds (JBL Tour Pro 2 earbuds) that seek to be different from the rest
A difficult task as it feels like “true wireless earbuds” have pretty much accomplished everything that can. Leaving these products in the repetitive year-to-year upgrade of slight audio enhancements and battery life but not much else. However, the company found a way to be different and break that mold a little further.
It has done this by building in a 1.45″ LED touchscreen into the charging/travel case that the buds rest and charge within. Referring to it as a smart charging case as it allows you to control the various features of the buds without ever having to remove your phone from your pocket. No loading apps and or anything else. Simply pick up the case and set the modes you need (ie, ANC on or off, ambient sound on or off, etc). You can also control and receive phone calls and notifications from the screen. Allowing you to answer calls or response to messages without having to have your phone in your hand.

This acts as a shortcut so you can adjust the buds quickly when you need to. It isn’t life changing but it could speed up the process of these tasks and it make sense. As long as you aren’t pocket-adjusting them while the case is tucked away in a tight pocket. It is also something we have never seen before. So JBL was able to break the repetitive mold and take a pair of earbuds to a new level.
Now only that, but they offer ANC (active noise canceling), up to 30 hours of battery life (with the charging case assisting throughout the window of time), Bluetooth 5.3/LE, and fast charging.
The buds will be launching sometime this spring for an MSRP of $250. No pre-order opportunities have been announced.
