LG decides to shave the price on 4K OLED screens

We have spent some well appreciated time with LG’s OLED TVs, especially the 4K models that give it one of the leading positions right now on the market. Of course the only troubles with these amazing TVs is that the price keeps them out of the range of most users. Until now at least (sort of).

Marking the start of hopefully what will become an OLED takeover of the market, LG has announced that they have decreased the price of their latest OLED models–some models by up to 45%. They are also offering a $1000 instant rebate through the end of the year on certain models, only making them more affordable.

Some examples include the following (prices do not include rebates):

55-inch 55EF9500 $5,499 $3,999
55-inch 55EG9600 $5,499 $3,999
65-inch 65EF9500 $6,999 $5,999
65-inch 65EG9600 $6,999 $5,999

LG is also be offering rebates on other models as well, including the 55-inch 55EG9100 (1080P).

Hopefully this will drive additional OLED sells this holiday season, leading to a heavy increase in OLED interest. They do offer some of the best picture qualities ever to be seen on a TV after-all. Of course, even with the new price cuts, these prices are still a bit high (hence the above “sort of”). We can only expect the prices to get better next year! If you do have the cash though, and plan on owning one now–then this is the best time to jump on one.
