LG didn’t really blow anyone away with its presence at CES this year at CES 2022. At least, not on the exhibit floor. The company opted to keep things minimal by replacing what is usually one of the most head-turning booths with a skeleton of naked plywood. Scattered around the empty booth, you can find pedestals of various sizes. Each contains a QR code that can be scanned with a mobile device for a virtual presentation.
While some attendees found it amusing, many continued on as they passed by, while others made use of the pedestals as convenient places to sit and relax. Which likely wasn’t what LG was planning for when the company opted for this “eco-friendly” alternative.
Meanwhile LG has a number of new products to introduce this year, including brighter and better-looking OLED models, such as its LG OLED evo Gallery Edition TV. The company is also pushing to deliver bigger screens within its OLED range. Both brightness and size being one of the limitations of OLED in the past. This includes sizes of up to 97-inches. Allowing LG to compete with Micro LED and QLED alternatives that have continued to provide a better brightness while getting dangerously close with black level detail.
This is going to be a big year for OLED (and likely some price tags that might cause your heart to skip a beat–but that is nothing new). Meanwhile, webOS has seen an upgrade in the upcoming TV models, Nvidia’s G-SYNC and 8K will be available for hard-core gamers, and many other innovations are planning to roll out this year from the company.
You just won’t see any of it in person, for now. Meanwhile, Sony and Samsung are killing it on the exhibit floor. So you can plan to see some new video content rolling out by us shortly as our crews capture what’s new on the show floor. Content will be made available online both here and via YouTube.
