Here comes an interesting product from the company Lutron. It has actually been out since summer of last year, but just recently came across our radar. If you are a Philips Hue owner and have toggle-style (lever) light switches throughout your home, this is something that may absolutely interest you.
Lutron Aurora is a simple product that easily installs over one of these switches, turning it into a dimmer control for your Philips Hue lights. It keeps the switch in the “on” position so that the lights remain connected to the network, while still being able to physically control their brightness or even turn them off. Perfect for when you have little ones or guests who don’t know the switch is supposed to remain on.
Supposedly, it takes less than two minutes to throw it all together and get it working with your Philips Hue hub, making it one of the easiest wall-mounted dimmer solutions we have seen. It also looks natural, meaning no one would even know that a toggle switch is hiding underneath. It simply slides right over the switch and looks like it was there the whole time.
It does feature Philips Hue-like pricing at $39.95 (average) for such a simple/small little gadget, but it sure does have a lot of use in a home with Philips Hue lights. The only catch is we can only find it in “white”, which may not work out for everyone (depending on the color of your wall plates).
We have tested one ourselves just yet, but hopefully, we’ll get our hands on a few in the future so that we can break them down and let you know what we think. Time will tell, but for now, we’ll provide a few links below so that you can find them at one of your favorite retail outlets.
Available at: Amazon | Philips Hue Store | Home Depot | Best Buy
If you own one, let us know what you think of it below in the comments. We’d love to hear your thoughts.
