Netgear has launched their new flagship gaming solution, the XR700 Nighthawk Pro gaming router, targeting serious gamers looking to maximize their connection and minimize network latency, while getting a long list of powerful features to go with it.
The router is actually a variation and step up from their popular flagship X10 Nighthawk router, with extended usability of the 10 Gigabit port on the back and a complete overhaul of the original firmware by replacing it with the DumaOS (which was also featured on the XR500 before it), structuring everything around a solid gaming performance instead of your typical router interface.
Being a wireless 802.11ad router, it broadcasts the much faster 60G network along with your typical 2.4G and 5G options. With 60G, you get a throughput of up to 4,600 Mbps, which brings the total throughput of the router (all networks combined) to a massive 7,200 Mbps. Of course, 60G doesn’t have much of a reach to it, so you will find it stretching less of a distance than your 5G, and you may have a hard time finding any devices at the moment that will support it, but close to the router, it makes for one hell of a speed boost for your wireless.

The new router is available at some of your favorite retailers, including (of course) Amazon.com. We made sure to provide a button below that will take you straight to it. It will run you a jaw dropping $499 (MSRP), although that isn’t anything new with today’s routing solutions (ie, Nighthawk lineup, mesh options and so forth). It has already be racking up positive points from consumers, so it should become a solid member of the Nighthawk family of products from Netgear.
