Microsoft is working to roll out an update for the Microsoft 365 line of subscription products that will assist companies in quickly tracking down culprits who send the wrong email or other forms of communication between fellow employees or to external contacts. Something that can benefit companies on multiple levels.
The new update will allow companies to reduce “the detection to investigation time to under an hour” (which used to be around 24 hours). Allowing them to respond much more quickly to any given event. So this isn’t anything new, but it is a vast improvement on what is there (I mean, you can’t tell me that you didn’t know that your employer was already reviewing everything you sent out to others this whole time).
So the next time someone feels like they have to shoot off a harassing message to one of their co-workers, they are going to want to think twice about it. Else they will quickly be made an example of for others to learn from.
That, and such an update may help out with security breaches when information is shared with the wrong contacts. Typically information that is phished by deviant scammers looking to steal valuable information. Something that continues to be getting worse by the year.
The update will span all of the various products within Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including emails, messaging and more.
Announced today, the update will be rolling out to Microsoft 365 some time in April. The company hasn’t revealed any details just yet on the methods it will use to track these communications down with.
